05-07-2021 ZOOMBeverly Hills Bar - First Friday Drop-In Networking Event
First Friday Drop-In Networking Event - With Breakout Rooms!
We are all anxious to resume in-person networking, but until COVID conditions improve and make that possible, we want our members to have more regular opportunities to network. First Friday is a new monthly event! Please come prepared with your one-minute pitch of your work and what referrals others should send your way.
When you register, include your “elevator pitch” of what work your fellow BHBA members should send your way. We’ll be sending all attendees a spreadsheet with everyone’s contact information and pitch so that you can focus on conversations instead of taking notes, and have a resource for future referrals.

Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Writers Bloc Present Elizabeth Hinton with Michael Eric DysonAmerica has seen, over and over again, that police violence against Black people leads to Black rebellion. These rebellions have taken different forms since the 1960’s, as Elizabeth Hinton, Professor of History, African American Studies, and Law, writes in her timely new book, America on Fire: The Untold History of Police Violence and Black Rebellion Since the 1960s. Following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer, Americans have demanded a reckoning. Elizabeth Hinton argues that while poverty and racism have led to violence in small and large urban Black communities across the nation, the trigger was always an act of police violence aimed at Blacks. In America on Fire, Hinton warns the public and policy makers that it’s not up to the police to just react to impossible social conditions, but it is up to policy makers and voters to change the system. And fast.
